I'm referring to US Army basicIn terms of sustenance is it true in basic training don't expect anything more than food/water?
Absolutely not, you will be fed well; however, how much you are able to eat and drink in the allotted time by the Drill Sergeant, is up to you. Pay attention, because most of the time the DS's are talking in a different language.
If you like coffee, which takes time to prepare, then yes get used to not having much unless you are on guard duty.
I was frightened at first, but then I realized it was like being at camp but a bit more intense;OK, alot more intense. The DS's are there to make sure you succeed, because if you fail then they fail. Listen to the DS's and not your bbuddy's at least not while they are talking to you. Don't get me wrong you need to work as a team to make it through basic training. If a buddy falls help him back up, even if you get extra push ups.
Good luck and we are proud of you for serving your country and keeping all of us safe.In terms of sustenance is it true in basic training don't expect anything more than food/water?
While I cannot comment on Army or Marine Corps boot camp, mine did not allow you to drink any thing but water (gatorade at meal times) and the only food you receive is the three times during the day - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Any other food is unauthorized and will get you a lot of unwanted attention. Many times they will set out things like coffee, pop tarts, etc. just to entice trainees but are designed to intentionally not give trainees enough time to eat it.
They have coffee at boot camp. But you don't have time to make it. I know guys that ate the coffee beans just to get the caffeine from it. So yes If I was him I would get off of it. And by him I am taking it is you. So I would get off of it if I was you.
Interesting. I know the Air Force has no problem with coffee, and I think it's the law that you drink coffee in the navy (and never wash your coffee cup), but can't see why they would refrain from it in the Army.
Coffee was available at all the meals. During the day, we had our canteens, and water is all that was authorized in them.
NOPE! Coffee at breakfast,as well as milk and juices. Not sure about soda. Except for ';special occasions';, probably not.
